An online conference designed to boost the sales of goods from Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) in domestic stores and supermarkets was held in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province on Aug 26.

The conference was attended by more than 10 domestic purchasers, which were predominantly chain stores and supermarkets, as well as 18 China-CEEC Expo exhibitors or their domestic agents.

Among them were two the gas station operators, CNPC and Sinopec, both of which run an extensive network of convenience stores across the nation.

Consumers in Ningbo and Zhejiang will be able to get access to various daily supplies, drinks, and cleaning agents from CEEC at gas station convenience stores in the future.

Jiang Lirong, purchasing manager of the CNPC-operated uSmile stores in Zhejiang, said that they plan to buy some popular products from Central and Eastern Europe for car owners, including snacks, drinks, as well as car perfumes or essential oils and crafts.

He added that he believes that Ningbo, as an economic and trade cooperation center between China and CEEC, has unique port advantages.

The selected CEEC goods will be available at uSmile stores in Zhejiang first and then will be promoted in other parts of the country, according to Jiang.

Cheng Peng, purchasing manager of Ningbo Lumeihui Import & Export Co Ltd, said that the online matchmaking event organized by the local government can accurately match foreign brands with domestic distribution channels and further improve awareness of CEEC products in China.

An online exhibition hall has been erected by Ningbo to showcase CEEC goods all year round.
