Serbia attracts 2.9 bln euro in net FDI in Jan-SeptDate: 2024-01-19    Source: SeeNews.com!

Serbia attracted 2.99 billion euro ($3.25 billion) in net foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first three quarters of 2023, the central bank said.

In January-September, the highest inflow of FDI, 933 million euro, went to manufacturing, followed by construction with 500 million euro, mining with 359 million euro and financial and insurance services with 301 million euro, figures published on the website of the central bank showed.

The bank gave no comparative annual figures in its latest report.

Yet, according to earlier published central bank data, Serbia's net FDI inflow stood at 2.78 billion euro in January-September 2022.

In January-September 2023, European Union countries generated the largest share of net FDI to Serbia, 1.61 billion euro in total.

The Netherlands was the top net investor among the EU states, with 631 million euro invested in the nine-month period. It was followed by Austria with 210 million euro, Romania with 151 million euro and Germany with 144 million euro.

Outside the EU, China was the single largest investor with 817 million euro of net FDI in Serbia in the first nine months of last year.

Serbia attracted 4.33 billion euro in net FDI in 2022, up from 3.66 billion euro in 2011.
