Beijing, February 2nd—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Peter Lizak, Ambassador of Slovakia to China.

Liu said, China and Slovakia enjoy a profound traditional friendship, and Slovakia was one of the first countries to recognize and establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. Both sides adhere to mutual respect, mutual trust, mutual benefit and win-win results, and have made fruitful results in cooperation in economy, trade, science, technology, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The Chinese side is willing to take the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, make good use of platforms such as the high-quality construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, further intensify high-level exchanges, strengthen exchanges and cooperation between political parties, and promote China-Slovakia relations for long-term and stable development.

Lizak said, Slovakia and China have a long-standing friendship. As the ambassador to China, I have the honor to witness with the miracle of economic development that China has achieved. Slovakia's new government attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and firmly adheres to the one-China principle. It hopes that on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the two sides will strengthen high-level exchanges of visits, expand cooperation in economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement, and promote the upgrading of bilateral relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis and other issues.
